Again, the Lord spoke to Jeremiah while he was in prison, encouraging him to pray to Him and He will answer and show Jeremiah things he does not know.
The Lord reiterated that He will heal His people and "reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth." He will restore them to the land, cleanse them from sin, pardon them, and show them mercy. They will be an example to all the nations of the earth, and all the people will know of His goodness.
In those days and at that time I will cause to grow up to David a Branch of righteousness; He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely. And this is the name by which she will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
COMMENTARY
God is going to "reaffirm the covenant He made with David in 2 Samuel 7"...that He will sit on the throne forever.
"In those days" means the Day of the Lord, which is coming. It has not happened, yet. There has not been a righteous Branch, yet, (which is Jesus Christ); when He sits on the throne in Jerusalem, He will execute judgment and righteousness in the land. For now, God is calling out a people to His name, preparing to put His Son on the throne.
